Printed Gold vs. Hot Foil Stamping on Tissue Paper

What’s the difference between “Printed Gold” and “Hot Foil Stamping”?

✨ 1. Process Difference

Printed Gold

Printed gold is done like regular printing, using gold ink.

Different gold inks create different levels of shine. We usually use imported gold pigment mixed with special ink oil, allowing us to adjust the tone, depth, and shade of gold during production based on customer requirements.

The finish is soft and elegant. It reflects light under illumination, with a balanced, smooth gloss.

It’s cost-effective, fast to produce, and ideal for large-volume orders.

Hot Foil Stamping

Hot foil stamping uses heat and pressure to transfer metallic foil onto tissue paper.

Foil color cannot be adjusted during production—the foil color must be selected in advance or custom-made.

It delivers a true metallic effect: extremely bright, highly reflective, and premium.

Even very small text stays sharp and clear.

The cost is higher, and production is slower compared to printed gold.

✨ 2. Visual & Tactile Differences

Process Appearance & Texture Best For

Printed Gold Matte gold / soft-shine gold, smooth surface, stable color Bulk orders, cost-sensitive projects, consistent branding

Hot Foil Stamping Mirror gold, brushed gold, high-gloss metallic, slight embossed feel (premium) High-end brands, e-commerce gift packaging, value enhancement

✨ 3. Cost & Efficiency

Printed Gold: Lower cost + faster sampling and mass production

Hot Foil Stamping: Slightly higher cost + plate setup required + slower production

✨ 4. Practical Recommendation

Want to control cost and produce large quantities? → Printed Gold

Want strong branding, luxury appeal, and premium impact? → Hot Foil Stamping

Ultimately, the right choice depends on your brand color system and the overall packaging effect you want to achieve.
